PRODUCT SAFETY & QUALITY POLICY
This policy demonstrates our commitment to delivering safe and legally compliant products, processes and services that always fulfil product safety and the quality expectations of our customers, by employing the following principles: –
- Sheard Packaging commits to establishing, implementing, and maintaining product safety and quality objectives at relevant functions and levels of the organisation.
- Sheard Packaging is committed to continuously improve the site’s product safety and quality culture. The company recognises the importance of product safety and quality culture which is aligned with its objectives, purpose, vision, mission and core values.
- The organisation satisfies all applicable obligations including the requirements of ISO 9001 Quality Management System, BRCGS Packaging Materials, FSC Chain of Custody, B Corporation, customer needs and applicable statutory and legal requirements.
- Sheard Packaging commits to the continual improvement of our integrated management system which includes our product safety and quality systems.
We therefore actively encourage every employee’s commitment and involvement in implementing processes that will enable us to use the standards and procedures as a major tool for continual business, quality, environmental, sustainability and health and safety improvements.
ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
1. Purpose
Sheard Packaging ensures that all activities carried out by the organisation comply with relevant environmental legislation and aligns with our commitment to sustainability.
This policy demonstrates our responsibility to protect our environment, contribute to a sustainable future, and continuously improve our environmental impact through integrated sustainability practices across all aspects of our operations.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all Sheard Packaging employees, operations, site and supply chain activities. It encompasses our commitment to sustainable practices in our production, transportation, materials, waste management and resource consumption.

4. Key commitments
Energy consumption
• Monitor, measure, and reduce energy use in areas such as air conditioning, lighting, machinery, office equipment, and on-site fuel consumption.
• Transition to renewable energy sources, aligning to steps we have already taken such as on-site solar generation and the procurement of renewable electricity.
Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions
• Measure and report GHG emissions in alignment with recognised standards.
• Reduce emissions in line with our Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) near-term target and set a long-term science-based Net Zero target
• Create a climate transition plan to decarbonise our value chain
Waste Management
• Implement waste reduction principles focusing on 3 Rs (refusing, reusing, and recycling).
• Minimise operational waste and maximise recycling in line with targets outlined in our IMS system.
• Maintain waste segregation to aid its ability to be recycled and avoid landfill.
Water Stewardship
• Protect our local waterways including the River Calder, which runs along our site.
• Use water responsibly and identify supply chain water risks.
• Engage with suppliers to address water stress and reduce our products’ water footprint.
Product impact
• Design packaging solutions that meet customer needs while minimising material use and transportation impacts.
• Prioritise recycled and sustainably sourced materials, adhering to chemical compliance and safety standards.
• Continue to operate a purchasing policy to ensure as many goods and services as possible are sustainably sourced.
• Continue to design products that are optimised for existing recycling infrastructure.
Deforestation
• Avoid contributing to deforestation by sourcing 100% FSC-certified materials or recycled inputs.
5. Compliance and Continuous Improvement
• Comply with all relevant environmental legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
• Continuously evaluate our practices to identify improvements we can align with quantifiable targets.
6. Monitoring & transparency
Progress against our environmental targets, as outlined in the Goals and Targets Document, will be published in our annual impact report to ensure accountability and transparency.
7. Governance
The Sustainability and ESG Lead, and Compliance Manager are responsible for overseeing the implementation, monitoring, and updating of this environmental policy.
This policy will be reviewed annually as standard but can be reviewed more frequently if required, to ensure it remains relevant, aligns with evolving business goals, regulatory changes, and stakeholder expectations.
