JOB DESCRIPTION

The finance dept. is currently being managed by a long serving company accountant that is due to retire in 2022
Ambitions for continued success remain extremely high and the Senior Management Team is seeking to appoint a loyal and committed financial leader

To strengthen the team and bring financial expertise and insight across all aspects of the business

To integrate into a successful team and influence and shape the finance function ensuring appropriate financial controls are in place

Successfully integrate into the accomplished and successful finance team whilst developing excellent working relationships with the entire Senior Management Team and other key personnel, becoming the financial custodian of the business.

Responsible for all the companies finance and accounting activities including the production of the P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow and supporting commentary.

Deliver accessible management information and high-quality board reports, supported by improved KPI’s to enhance decision making.

Take a proactive approach to cash flow forecasting and treasury management; optimising credit control and supplier payments and,hence, working capital.

A collaborative approach to integrating, supporting and subsequently leading a small, tight-knit accounts department to create ahigh-performing and efficient function.

Oversee and support the invoicing process, establishing a structure which ensures the department is making payments and invoicing on time and credit control is optimised with queries being handled promptly.

Manage all statutory reporting requirements including Company Secretarial duties and confidential Director’s salaries.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

Create supportive, and trusted, working relationships with the finance and management teams.

  • Establish monthly management meetings and present financial information to support strategic initiatives.
  • Work with the management team to create a budget and forecasting cycle to support the short-, medium-and longer-term plans.

Support colleagues cross functionally to drive increased departmental performance.

  • Be proactive in supporting the Operations Manager to understand and drive insight into operational performance and financial impactors.
  • Support and influence the Head of Sales in commercial decision making through the improvement of weekly KPI reporting.
  • Drive cost saving initiatives which positively impact the bottom line.
  • Review current operational and financial processes and seek appropriate ways to improve.

Represent Sheard Packaging by building and managing external relationships, in particular banks and auditors, in a professional and credible manner.

Skills Required

Experience

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant with a successful track record in a senior finance role.
  • Demonstratable experience working in an agile, fast-paced business with an understanding of performance measures and metrics within a Manufacturing environment and/or Wholesales Distribution, Logistics, Supply Chain.
