JOB DESCRIPTION

Sheard Packaging is seeking a Technical Sales Manager to manage key customer relationships and provide technical expertise across the full customer journey, from trials through to ongoing support.
The role drives customer satisfaction, retention, and growth through value engineering, supply chain optimisation, and continuous improvement. Working closely with Internal Sales, Commercial, Technical, Design, and Operations teams, you will ensure customers receive strong technical support, service, and innovation.

You will act as a trusted technical advisor, helping customers improve performance, reduce cost, and develop long-term partnerships.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop allocated key customer accounts
  • Act as primary technical contact for customers, providing support and problem solving
  • Lead value engineering projects to improve cost, quality, and performance
  • Support supply chain optimisation initiatives internally and with customers
  • Manage customer trials and ensure successful technical outcomes
  • Identify opportunities for account growth, improvement, and innovation
  • Support onboarding of new customers with technical input
  • Work with Sales, Commercial, Technical, Design, and Operations teams to deliver solutions
  • Resolve technical and operational customer issues promptly
  • Gather and share customer feedback to support improvement and innovation
  • Support continuous improvement across the technical function

Skills Required

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills
  • Experience in technical sales or packaging/manufacturing environment
  • Strong problem-solving and technical understanding
  • Experience in value engineering and supply chain optimisation
  • Good project and time management skills
  • Ability to work across multiple internal teams and customers
  • Customer-focused, proactive, and commercially aware
  • Willingness to travel nationally
